Fir Meadow Lamanchas & Toggenburgs

Newest CAE test results per WSU.  2/8/08 -  Negative
We've been Negative since herd inception in 1999 and test annually.

Spring has Sprung.   If you are looking to get a milker/kid from us don't wait too long, they are starting to go fast nationwide....

We have shipping available to us on our goats going to Nev/Utah either through N Calif or E Oregon in May.  $75 plus health cert (50 1st goat, 15 additionals).

We have shipping available to us possibly to Missouri and through the states to there.  Probably May.

We have shipping available to us possibly to Pennsylvania- late spring, early summer.  Probably be a commerical shipper.

Airshipping is available until kids are too large to ship :O).  Usually the cheapest way to ship kids unless you can get on a private (not commerical) ground transport....  Definately the least stressful/fastest way to ship....

We believe in Milk and Show!

2007 Premier Breeder & Premier Exhibitor LaManchas, Oregon State Fair

9 Best In Show Adga ribbons won in 2007- 4 for toggs & 5 for lamanchas in Calif and Oregon.

3rd on the West Coast (via Calif DHIA) rolling milk averages in milk strings sized 17 to 30 goats for the 2007 lactation!

2008 will find us reducing our herd more, as Kat is in school for Master Herbalist certification (the herbalist equivalent to an MD or DVM).  We have a 2 boers for sale (1 FB USBGA buck, 1 88% percentage usbga does), lamancha bucks, lamancha & togg milkers, dry stock and kids for sale.   We are NOT SELLING OUT,  just reducing the herd- but we are reducing til it hurts- letting go of some goats we normally would not.   We still plan to show,  just must cut the day to day work & expense down.  If you are serious about making an offer on one/some in the herd, drop a note.   If you don't hear from  us please assume we didn't get your email- some emails get filtered out by our server, try again or call.

We are now raising our kids on raw colostrum and raw milk.   Before you gasp, consider these things...   Our herd has been CAE Negative since herd inception with annual testing via WSU, and has never shown any symptoms for cl or mycoplasma, or johnnes (I'm so paranoid of johnnes that I won't even let another ruminant on our farm and am picky about my hay not being grown on winter pasture)...  About  2005, when Lucky Star and Quixote went to raw,  I asked some questions, then watched and considered some more.   Quixote mentioned to me that they saw very increased lung health in kids,  much higher coccidia resistance, and faster growth rate in kids.  I already knew we lost nutrients and enzymes by pastuerizing, so after a couple more years of neg tests and watching the herd we have taken the raw milk plunge.   We will continue to test the herd annually, as well as taking our usual biosecurity precautions.   We can already attest to the the faster growth rate of kids - gaining 15 to 17 lbs per month instead of just 10 (which still showed up as growthy kids in the ring!) and they are quite a bit more sturdy and energetic- not that our previous litters had health issues,  I'm just amazed that we can already see quite a bit of difference just in a few short weeks! We also are seeing less coccidia problems, less lung problems, and a faster response to herbal treatment than before.   We're liking these raw raised kids...

Ground Transport to Pennslyvania from our Farm with Zeigler's.  June or July.

New ground shipment opportunity with a private carrier.   3rd week of June-  Oregon, Utah, Col, Wyoming, Kansas, Montana, Idaho.  Health certificates required.

We are traveling to Roseburg Oregon early June to a show and can transport our sold goats with us.

Ground shipments are possible from our location. www.Zeiglerlivestocktransport.com , Russ Edgar,  and others drive right by within minutes of our house on their west coast routes so shipping is easy to arrange with them pending space availability.  We require that animals and health certs must be PREPAID and payment cleared before we obtain health certificates or release them for transit.  Please allow extra lead time (3 weeks) If you live in a state that requires TB and Brucellosis testing (at your expense) as it takes time to mail the Bruc. to a lab and for them to get the results back to our veterinarian- not usually a fast process.   TB testing takes 72 hours to complete and requires two veterinarian visits to the farm.   If you have any questions please feel free to ask.   Really the easiest and often cheapest way to ship is still to airship kids at around a month of age, but obviously, that does not work for older animals.

That would be her 4th time on the list if that happens.

We are signed up for Biogenics to do a buck collection at our farm in Central Point, Oregon  December 2007.  Call us or email us if you want to get your bucks collected.  We are only allowed 16 total for the stop.

Mega Bucks show in Central Point, Oregon June 6/06   I was farm shopping with my realtor, so brought two boys with me to show....   Valiant was first place yearling in 2 rings and Victor was 2nd place togg yearling buck in 3 rings behind another Whitehawk buck (only 2 entries :O)  ).  After shaving all that togg hair off I'm quite impressed with Victor..   Troy and Donna Palmer of Crown Hill Nubians in Central Point won our Lamancha raffle doeling!

Fir Meadow '06 kids- are doing great for thier new owners!  Though we can't guarantee show results on kids we sell,  we sure like hearing about them!  Each of our bucks has produced a winner so far this year!  Thank-you,  Lord (God)!  Update us on your Fir Meadow goat accomplishments and we'd be glad to list them here!  Best junior doe in show awards were received by our herd with : Waltzing Matilda (Tillie), Virtue, and Wiese- one in each of our 3 breeds.

Roseburg, Oregon July 8th.   We took 4 lamachas and one togg.   Our togg, Freedom,  went RGCH x 2 (and 1st udder)  Whiskey and Tickle each took an RGCH & 1st udder, and Schemer and Rosemary each took a GCH/BOB/BUOB!!!  Wow, not bad for having just had a long move into hot (111 degrees 2 days after we moved- weather)...  We had them in our new home only 6 days before yarding them out to show...

Jackson County Fair July- 2 ring ADGA show 7/23/06,  District 7 Lm Specialty  107 degrees!  yikes...

Despite the heat, the girls came thru for us...

Toggs:   Freedom GCH and BOB and BUOB,  2nd day GCH & BOB didn't sanction...   Vanilla was Aop' in with the lamanchas and went GCH for her dry leg :O).

Experimentals:  Tinkerbell went RGCH and BUOB- shown one day only as she is finished.   Waltzing Matilda (Tilly)- went  reserve jr champion the first day and GCH and then BJDIS the 2nd day.

Oregon State Fair  Aug 30 thru Sep 4th:

We received Supreme Best Udder for Experimental Tinkerbell and also received Premier Exhibitor for the lamancha breed.   Our girls were looking stale by then from this year's stress,  but still we had many firsts and I believe we took all of the group classes (I'm typing this in Dec from memory).  Nasturium was awarded the highest lifetime milk award for the lamancha breed,  being over 17,000 #'s currently being in her 6th lactation.  Our kids did not show well,   the move and temporary set ups having affected their growth (they did not get grained at all this year) so were not the size of the other nice kids that were shown.

February 15, 2007 100% CAE Negative Herd, WSU

Pasture Poses
Barn & Mt McClure in the distance...

Our lamancha herd began in Sequim, Wa,  only 20 minutes away from Lucky Star.   So it was only natural to start our herd with some of Don & Judi's beautiful lamanchas.  Since then we have added many top Northwest bloodlines via herdsires & a few key foundation does,  giving us what we have at the present.  For 6 1/2 years we lived in snow country in the North Cascade mountains in Twisp, WA and our milk and show herd was developed under the tough (but friendly) Washington show competition. Since June 2006 we are situated in the beautiful Siskiyou mountains of Southern Oregon (we are just minutes from I-5 for those who would like to visit!).

We are careful about the care of our herd,  feeding excellent quality feeds, and using natural medicine for prevention/treatment where possible.  Our growthy kids and the herd's production attest to their upkeep.  Our herd is tested annually for CAE through WSU and is NEGATIVE since herd beginning in 1999.

If what you see interests you we do have sales lists available for the US.  We can be contacted via email,  or snail mail:  PO Box 1089, Gold Hill, OR 97525.  Our phone will be in the ADGA directory or lamancha club website (Once updated)...

Many blessings!   Jerry and Kat

Curry County July 28, 29  Highlights:  Veilchen went RGCH,  Wiese went GCH and BJDIS!, Whimsical went GCH and BJDIS!  toggs:  Virtue, GCH, BOB, BUIS,  CeCe went GCH x 2,  Baby Faith went RGCH x 1....  A fun show,  lots of 1-3rd placings as well....  As of this show we have 5 ADGA Best In Show doe ribbons- on five different does and in both breeds.

Douglas County, OR  Aug 7. This is a combined sanction smaller show, but not lacking quality- there were does there that have Best in show wins at other larger open shows....   no champion challenge class either so no best of breed awards so our GCH in their prime years stayed home.   GCH on Timbrel, RGCH on a 'grandaughter' of ours- Fir Meadow sire and dam, jr CH Whimsical, jr RCH on Posey.   experiemenal- Jr RCH on Tillie, jr RCH on Blessed.  Toggs: we had the only ones- GCH Virtue, RGCH Freedom, jr CH on CeCe and jr RCH on baby Faith.   Virtue also went BDIS!...

Josephine County, OR 2 rings Aug 16/17-  We took lamanchas and toggs... 1st day was combined jr and sr for sanction, 2nd day was separate sanction.  Timbrel went RGCH both days,  GCH on Tickle 1st day,  BOB on Rosine 1st day,  GCH & BOB on Tickle 2nd day (finished!),   BUIS on Tickle!   jr CH on Wiese, jr rch on Whimsical- 1st day.  2nd day was rgch on Xinnia and GCH on Kopper and a BJDIS on Kopper!!!  We took all the groups as well....   on toggs,  Freedom was GCH both days, Virtue was RGCH day one and Vanilla RGCH day two.    CeCe was jr ch day one, and baby Faith was GCH day two.    Too bad toggs didn't sanction...   We were told by the judge later that the choice for bdis was between our togg (freedom) and the 8yo pretty nubian that got it.   Still need that elusive final leg on Freedom :).

Oregon State Fair, Salem OR Sep 3  Wow.  I know we've said this before,  but I continue to be amazed at how the Lord allows us to be blessed.  Judge: Joan Dean Rowe. Tough show, serious competition. Unfortunatly Nasturium was real sick, so did not look well.  We still had to present her to obtain her special Herrington Lifetime top lamancha milker award- over 20,000 lbs of milk now,  but did scratch her from all groups so she could be returned to her stall.  She is MUCH better now.  Lets see, in the final lineups (1st & 2nds) we had for juniors: Xochitl, Wiese, Whimsical.  Whimsical took GCH and BJDIS!  Wiese took RGCH.  Lineups for seniors:  Wisteria, Veilchen, Shekkinah (1 entry, but lots of nice things said), Whiskey, Rosemary, Daiquiri, Nasturium,  Champion Challenge:  Rosine took BOB!, Keeper a 3rd.   1-3 udder placings garnered on Wisteria, Rejoicing, Veilchen, Vivace, Timbrel, Shek, Rosemary, Whiskey, Daiq, Nast, Rosine, Keeper. 1st jr get for Valiant, 1st sr get for Monsoon, 1st produce I believe was for Nast,  most other groups had kids since we scratched Nast.and were 2 or 3.    Really a nice show for us.   Toggwise  Virtue took a 1/1 udder, Freedom a 2/2udder .  Virtue went RGCH and the selection for rgch was between Virtue and Freedom.  They also took 1st produce of dam :O).  We were awarded Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor for the Lamancha breed.

Tule Lake, CA - Sept 8th.  Our last show of the year.  We took a smaller string as AOP had our and most other breeds in it... There was other strong open show competition there.  We simply were amazed to get 1st in every class except the jr doe class, where Posey took 2nd.    The kid lineup (combined sanction) had Ce Ce, Xcellent Faith, and Whimsical in it.   The Sr lineup had Wisteria, Virtue, Timbrel, Shekkinah, and Rosine in it.   Virtue togg went GCH then BDIS and BUIS.   Timbrel went RGCH for a full milking leg over 52 other goats. Her 2nd leg.  We feel blessed!

Spotlight:   Our 2004 nomination, a lamancha doeling, was sold at the Spotlight sale in Albuqurque.  Trillium has earned her GCH dry leg for her new owners.

We can plan to ground transport.   We are  near I-5 and can transport into Calif and into WA.  Reasonable shipping charges with health papers required.

Currently we airship at buyers cost from Medford Oregon and do allow and encourage prearranged farm pickups.   Many blessings!
